BIOGRAPHY

Hailed by the Rutland Herald as a “brilliant singer and a delicious and sexy comic,” Ann-Marie Iacoviello is an emerging coloratura soprano gaining momentum for her distinctive interpretations and exploration of lesser-known repertoire. Praised for her “notes of brilliant intensity” (South Florida Classical Review), she has embraced demanding roles such as the Königin der Nacht in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Selena St. George in Picker’s Dolores Claiborne. Recently, Iacoviello served as an outreach artist for Boston Lyric Opera, where she played Gretel in a condensed touring version of Hansel and Gretel. Additionally, she returned to the Seagle Festival as a Fall Season Artist, performing in both a musical theater revue and an opera outreach tour.

During the 2021/2022 season, Ann-Marie Iacoviello made an impressive last-minute debut as Eurydice in Orphée aux enfers with the Opera Company of Middlebury. Stepping into the role on just four days' notice, she gave a standout performance during the opening weekend, earning high praise from both critics and audiences. In summer of 2021, Iacoviello was an emerging artist at the Seagle Festival, the oldest vocal training program in the United States, performing as La Fèe in Massenet’s Cendrillon.

With a keen interest in new music, Ann-Marie Iacoviello has performed contemporary works across both operatic and concert venues. She was noted by the Boston Musical Intelligencer for her portrayal of Selena St. George in Picker’s Dolores Claiborne, commended for delivering “just the right perfectly pointed voice for the damaged ingenue.” Additionally with the Boston University Opera Institute she appeared as The Girl in Tom Cipullo’s After Life. Her commitment to new operatic works has led her to collaborations with composers throughout her career, including premiering opera scenes by composers Patrick Walker and Zaq Latino. On the concert stage, Iacoviello was the featured soprano soloist throughout the ALEA III’s 2019 season, performing works by Adria Stolk among others.

During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Iacoviello explored new ways to create opera with the Cambridge Chamber Ensemble in Boston. She can be seen as the ingenue Marianne in a film of Wagner’s rarely performed Forbidden Love (Das Liebesverbot). She also performed in their production of Holst’s Sāvitri; the program combined Indian classical dance and opera for an intimate night of storytelling in a non-traditional space.

Finding opportunities to bring opera to life in non-traditional spaces is one of Iacoviello’s artistic passions. She performed Mozart’s infamous Queen of the Night in Miami’s Temple Emanu-el with the Miami Music Festival and also took part in DC Public Opera’s immersive, site-specific installation of The Turn of the Screw, performing as Flora.Other notable operatic roles include Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Emmie (Albert Herring), and Johanna (Sweeney Todd).

Concert credits include, soprano soloist in Ešenvalds’ Passion and Resurrection with the Boston University Symphonic Chorus and Symphony Orchestra Strings and soprano soloist in the Bach Magnificat with the Ithaca Baroque Orchestra.

Ann-Marie is an active private teacher in the Boston area with a piano/voice studio. Her students are of all ages and music abilities.
